Support the development of Polish as a foreign language and any other minority language with wordless books: pictures help develop vocabulary and narrative skills.
Books without text engage children in a unique way: they develop observation and concentration by focusing their attention on a selected character or element that recurs on every page, and build vocabulary by naming various objects on the pages.
We can trace the spreads with our fingers (and eyes!), tell stories that happened to the book's characters, look for common elements on subsequent pages, and notice changes in the weather or time of day.
We especially recommend children aged 2-3 for their first encounters with multi-format books, which can lead to long-lasting reading friendships.
For bilingual children for whom Polish is a second language, language stimulation is crucial. It's best to use the minority language as often as possible, in a variety of everyday situations, in conversation, during play, and in various contexts.
Learning through play is also a proven way to gently acquire Polish. Speech therapy games, aids, and exercises will be helpful, helping parents actively use Polish.
Our online bookstore has tested numerous speech therapy materials and books. Based on our collaboration with Polish schools, speech therapists, and specialists, we have created a unique offering tailored specifically to the needs of bilingual children learning Polish outside of Poland.
You will find here, among other things:
Mówię po polsku (I speak Polish) – a wide selection of speech therapy materials supporting speech development in Polish
Speech development, rhymes, and games – proven games and rhymes that will support Polish language development through play
Kraków Method – materials for speech therapists and specialists who use Professor Jagoda Cieszyńska's methods
