Authors Anna Siek, Maria Ślęzak, Anna Witkowska-Gmiterek, and Monika Kończewska have created a continuation of M. Pawlusiewicz's high school textbooks (kindergarten - 6th grade). The authors have many years of experience teaching Polish in Poland and abroad.
This is an innovative series of textbooks written specifically for Polish Saturday schools abroad. These textbooks are aligned with the core curriculum for students studying abroad, and the material contained within them was specifically developed for the needs of Saturday schools.
The textbooks contain a selection of texts from Polish literature, from Jan Kochanowski to Wisława Szymborska, as well as works presenting outstanding Poles and important events in Polish history. Students will also find texts that explore the lives and challenges of contemporary teenagers at home, at school, and in their relationships with peers and adults.
Exploring literary works is combined with developing practical knowledge of Polish and the ability to use it in various communicative situations. The materials provided allow students to develop their language skills: reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing.
The textbooks utilize the recommendations of the methodology for teaching Polish as a foreign language. They are not a collection of outlines or compulsory works to be covered.
They are ideal for preparing for the GCSE I A Level course in Polish as a foreign language in the English education system.
