Looking for a way to spark your child's interest in history without the tedious memorization of dates and dry definitions? The richly illustrated "Ale historia..." (What a History!) book series published by Nasza Księgarnia turns learning into a thrilling adventure! Written by Grażyna Bąkiewicz, these educational novels take young readers on time-travel journeys where a group of teenagers uncovers the fascinating secrets of Poland's past under the guidance of an eccentric teacher, Mr. Cebula.
The books in this series stand out with their light, humorous narrative, gripping plots, and fantastic educational comic strips illustrated by Artur Nowicki. Instead of rigid facts, young explorers dive into historical fun facts, discover what daily life looked like in bygone eras, and meet the human—often funny—side of historic rulers and heroes.
The collection features widely popular titles such as:
• "Mieszko, ty wikingu!" – exploring the mysterious origins of Poland's first ruler.
• "Kazimierzu, skąd ta forsa?" – looking into royal finances and medieval life with a humorous twist.
• "Mamy niepodległość!" and "Ta śmieszna i straszna PRL" – capturing twentieth-century milestones and daily realities.
The "Ale historia..." series is an excellent choice for primary school students, perfectly supplementing school curriculums while encouraging a genuine passion for reading and learning.
